The work

The code is MIT-licensed. The ancient Tamil work is distinct from modern translations, commentary, data compilation, and artwork. The named data upstream currently uses Apache-2.0; modern contributor rights and artwork attribution remain under review. See attribution and release status. No blanket CC0 license is claimed for the dataset.

The honest scope

The lens returns text from a fixed corpus snapshot and verifies normalized unique quote fragments against that snapshot. This does not establish a scholarly critical edition, but guidance drawn from it is your judgment to make. It is not a counselor, medical, legal or psychological service. In a crisis it will point to real help first (India: Tele-MANAS 14416); call it.

Fair use of the public endpoint

The hosted endpoint is free and rate-limited per client to keep it alive for everyone. Don't hammer it, resell it as-is, or use it as a general-purpose corpus mirror — review the dataset rights before redistribution for that. We may throttle or block abusive traffic.

No warranty

The software and endpoint are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the authors are not liable for any damages arising from use of the lens.
